Looking for something fun to do this weekend in Central Oregon? How about an evening spent watching the sport of kings… no not boxing, horse racing! Prineville Oregon has hosted the Crooked River Round Up-Horse Races annually since 1966! In the early years all of the tickets were pre printed, wagering was available but no computers were used to help with the calculations. Volunteers worked calculations feverishly to post and update odds before each race. Talk about pressure!
I’ve attended the races only once myself and had a blast! My brother is the one who tipped me off to the event in the first place… He told stories of whiskey and pretty women, cowboys and huge horses. He was right! The races will be held July 14th – July 17th 2010. Post time each night is at 7:15pm and *admission is $5, come out and enjoy the summer air.
