Welcome To Sunriver – The Great Northwest

Sunriver is Central Oregon’s premier residential and resort community

Sunriver has been the playground of the Pacific Northwest for more than 40 years. Blessed with an average of 300 days of sunshine each year, many residents of the wetter side of the Cascades (and others living world-wide), have vacation homes here. Over the years an active rental home program has developed with at least half a dozen property management companies offering vacation rentals in addition to owner-managed rentals. Sunriver vacation homes and condos can be found on the Web, in magazines such as Sunset and in classified sections of newspapers throughout the West.

Located southwest of Bend near the base of the Cascade range, Sunriver’s
3,300-plus acres are bordered on the west by more than five miles of Deschutes River frontage and on the north by the Deschutes National Forest. The unique forest environment of ponderosa and lodgepole pine is on the edge of the high desert to the east. Homes are painted in muted earth tones and common areas are managed to ensure a natural feel.

While the majority of Sunriver homes may be vacation retreats, our resident owners consider themselves the lucky ones. Experiencing all Sunriver has to offer on a daily basis can be the ultimate lifestyle choice for families or outdoor-loving active adults.

Visitors can enjoy the same amenities that lured our owners to this special place. World-class tennis and golf, 33+ miles of bike paths, two community aquatic facilities, paddling the Deschutes River, our own nature center and observatory, airport, stables and shopping village.

Although summer is the most popular season for vacationers, Sunriver’s proximity (17 miles) to the slopes of Mt. Bachelor entice snow-riders of all ages to stay here during winter and early spring. The more quiet, yet visually stunning autumn months are the favorites for many owners and visitors alike. Warm, crystal clear days on the golf course or bike trails are followed by crisp nights with the hint of woodsmoke in the air.

In my opinion the description above does a very nice job of accurately describing the unique and truly beautiful setting of Sunriver. After vacationing in Sunriver growing up, and living here now for almost six years it is a special place to me.
